Many of our CFE members as well as regular gym members will go out
and run the Go! St. Louis or other half/full marathons in 2013. Yet others are in full-on triathlon season prep.
Traditionalists
will have you running 3 miles, 2-3 times per week during the week, with
an ever-increasing long run on the weekend. While this is a tried and
true way to "survive" the event, it isn't the best approach to PR'ing
it!
With CFE, we concentrate on work that will make you
faster; in the pool, on the bike, and on the shoes. If you are
training on your own, check out the CFE section of the main site Workout
of the Day. You will find recommended work everyday for you.
You
will never find, "go run 5 miles". If its a 5 mile run, it is a time
trial, and you should be recording your results, just like in class. You
can't improve on what you don't know, you have to know!
Enjoy your training. Hopefully the weather turns here soon and outdoor training is more conveniently accomplished.
